“Are you there year-round?”
“What do you do in Winter months?”
“Are you working already? What do you do in the meantime?”
We LOVE all your questions, because it shows that you care about our family and you care about the ministry that we serve within. So, please, continue to ask us questions! Here are some the the answers to the most frequently asked questions:
Are you there year-round?
Yes, we live on-site. year-round. During the summer there are many types of camps; middle school camp, 4H camp was just here this week, high school camp, paintball camp, beginners horse camp, etc.. Prairie River camp also hosts staff retreats, family gatherings, RV camping, the possibilities are endless.
What do you do in Winter months?

During the winter we still have middle school and high school winter camp, many staff development retreats, essentially all the same things that are going on during the summer, because we are Minnesotans and cold weather doesn’t make us stop anything!
Are you working this summer?
Yes and no, we are working hard but we are not getting paid yet. This was a decision we made very intentionally! We wanted to be around camp for the busy summer camp weeks, to get to meet the interns, staff, and wonderful volunteers. We wanted to observe camp “in action” and see God at work in the lives of youth in south central Minnesota. Like Jen*, who came to camp and her counselor noticed that she was quiet during most cabin times, she didn’t share or open up; her counselor thought she wasn’t connecting well with the spiritual aspect of camp. On the last night, when campers had time to pray individually, Jen approached her counselor and asked her to help accept Jesus in her life. The times when they thought Jen wasn’t gaining much, she was observing and absorbing and she ultimately left transformed for life!

We are also working hard to raise financial support to fund the ministry for the next ministry year. If you have been called to support us in ministry here at Prairie River Camp, please let us know! It really isn’t possible to have stories of hope and transformation without support of donations, we hope you see Prairie River Camp as an extension of the local Church as a whole.
