I had the opportunity to sit in on some small groups last week during Paintball Camp at Prairie River Camp. During one cabin’s final small group of the week, we discussed what it means to be a Christian and gave the campers a chance to say where they stand with God. A few campers said they were raised in the church their whole lives, some said their families go to church on Easter and Christmas, and some simply remained silent.
There was one camper that broke the silence:
“I honestly don’t know where I stand with God, but I want to change that. I accepted Jesus into my heart when I was younger, but now I don’t see how I could be a Christian when I’ve done drugs, swear, and gone too far with girlfriends.”
There was another silence, but this one was different. Instead of waiting for the moment to pass, I could tell the other boys were contemplating what they just heard.
Soon, another boy opened up about how different he becomes when he comes home from camp and another that admitted to hanging with the wrong crowd when in school. Before long, most of the boys in the cabin decided to talk about their own personal struggles.

PRC is a safe environment where students are able to be vulnerable and talk with staff members who genuinely care for them. These interactions are some of the main reasons why Megan and I decided to serve in camp ministry.
We are able to provide these interactions and ministry opportunities because of our generous donors. Please pray and consider being a monthly supporter of our family’s ministry at Prairie River Camp. You can donate online today at: https://bit.ly/AgnewPRC
God bless!
